Welcome to MD-400. In this class we will be exploring technology and its relationship to education. We will have the chance to work on a number of hands-on projects. I enjoyed this exercise... I think that this method can help students understand lessons better as they truly have to know the content in order to be able to act it out. It also gives the rest of the classroom an opportunity to respond to other peoples' work. If every student in the class were to do a "Tableau Vivant" using the same novel, for example, it would show individual interpretations of the same story, which would be interesting to use as a point of discussion in class...
I really enjoyed this exercise and learned something new and interesting! I wasn't familiar with using this type of technology integration with works of art. I found a good YouTube video on Tableau Vivant. Check it out:

I was nervous to use the camera, but it wasn't hard to put together the ideas, as a group. In the video above, the students from a literature class used lines from Shakespeare to act out an image. There were many connections I made from our MD 400 class and the video these students acted in.
I'd like to see this in the classroom. I wonder how I could do an exercise like this at recess duty? I think a couple of my kids would have a lot of fun with this! I'd have to be careful and not use a camera, but my kids could still use acting Tableau Vivant to express themselves. What a great outlet, as kids need this more within the school day.
